Oobaloos and The American Invasion

Well the summer wedding rush is over! I am enjoying a couple of weeks off weddings before the Autumnal rush.

Early this year, I had an interesting email from a lady in Washington DC. Her future father-in-law had seen my advert on the Facebook Tewkesbury Notice Board page and they were eager to discuss their wedding with me. Unfortunately they were not planning to fly me to the USA for theor wedding! But, they were coming back to the hometown of Matthew’s family and getting married in the same church in Upton-Upon-Severn that his parents had. We had a video call and I am ever so pleased that we all hit it off straight away. What was lovely was that Melissa and Matthew were planning a visit here before their big day so we arranged to meet at their reception venue “The Drum & Monkey” for a chat and a pint of bitter 🙂 and I met their lively and charming landlady who described how they kit out the reception room and showed us around.

After becoming facebook friends with Melissa and Matthew I felt like I knew them when August rolled on round and they were finally here….with a vast entourage of wonky speaking folk!!

The wedding day started HOT!! I zoomed to the grooms abode and snapped there, then zipped over tho the brides pad and papped there and there was an energy in the air of excitement, nerves, but above all, happiness. Everyone who had flown to be with this couple were rooting for them to have the best day possible and the atmosphere was contagious.

A hop, skip and a jump (or trip, if anyone knows me) over the road and blushing bride Melissa Merlo married the dashing Matthew Tombs under the watchful eye of her Sicilian American Father (ever seen The Godfather? The Sopranos?) I’m just kidding….I am sure he is a softie….

The service was beautiful and there was love in the air. Their friends and family made taking their group photos a breeze and then a rabble of very thirsty, hot folk descended on The Drum & Monkey for refreshments and celebration.

We were so very luchy that evening that we had the most gorgeous sunset so I stole the happy couple from their guests for some photos of just them. I am so happy with how they turned out! They returned to cake, dancing, laughing and a whole lot of smooching!!

All in all…..the Yanks are welcome here anytime!! Thank you so much for having me.

Lots of love, Sheryl xxxxxx
