Good morning World! I’m sat looking at a rather windy and dreary day over my laptop but have a twinkly Christmas tree in the corner, a 6 year old in his PJ’s watching Christmas cartoons and a huge hound at my feet. With the husband making me a cuppa, life is pretty content. But, I can’t help but wonder where on earth this year went?! How is it nearly Christmas? 2018 has been my busiest year shooting weddings EVER and I am horribly behind on blogging. But that means your social media feed now has some sunshine and flowers and happy faces on it! Yayyy!!
When Carla and Louise told me all about their day, I was super excited to shoot it. What Carla didn’t know was that I was in on the surprises in store and prepared to snap all the shots before the big reveal, knowing this would made an amusing pictorial story in their gallery!
I have to say that I laughed til I cried at The Undercover Waiters. Standing in the middle of such fun and happiness makes me feel son very lucky to have an amazing job. Thank you ladies, for sharing your day with us. I can’t wait to see you all next year at Lou’s sisters wedding. Kate, I hope you have some more tricks up your sleeve. You set the bar pretty high here!!
“When we decided to start searching for venues, we looked at a couple in the Cotswolds but the Swan was special! It was just beautiful and the setting was perfect. As soon as we drove round the corner and saw it we knew it was the one for us. We hadn’t even been inside at that point!
“Best Day EVER!!”
We met playing football together many many years ago. We met again later in life and the rest is history!
The proposal was an unbelievable surprise! Despite my regular nagging, Louise had always said she would never get married again and I had almost given up hope that we would get married. Then Louise took me away for a weekend to Bourton-On-The-Water, one of our favourite places. Whilst sitting on the grass by the river enjoying the sunshine she handed me a champagne glass engraved with “will you marry me”. It was perfect and caught me totally off guard!
We decided we wanted a documentary style photographer. After searching the web and scrolling through numerous portfolios we found Oobaloos and we were sold. The style was exactly what we were looking for and the quality of Sheryl’s work really stood out.
We decided we didn’t want big, fancy dresses, we wanted a nice relaxed day so we both bought different high street dresses from Chi Chi London and DKNY.
Our flowers were lilac and cream but we didn’t really have a colour theme as such. The theme for the day was a chilled out and relaxed summer wedding. We wanted everyone to be comfortable especially in the scorching summer we were having.
We had Pimms and afternoon tea as canapés after the reception which was lovely and a bit different from the standard wedding canapés.
Our wedding cake was made by a close friend of ours with alternating tiers of chocolate and Victoria sponge.
The duck race supplied by Aqua florist was also a big hit with the guests. The kids loved throwing their rubber ducks into the stream and chasing after them along the bank. My nephew got a bit too carried away though and fell in!
Louise’s sister booked The Undercover Waiters to perform at our wedding. Whilst Lou was in on the surprise I had absolutely no idea what was happening! They were brilliant, they got everyone up singing and dancing. We even had a conga line around the room, while the tourists gazed in through the window in total disbelief! Very hard to follow that with my speech though!”
