Birtsmorton Court ~ Rebecca & Josh

“After being shown Sheryl’s work by a fabulous work colleague I was instantly mesmerised! I started following all of her work on social media and added her to my growing wedding scrap book (bearing in mind I wasn’t even engaged yet!). The moment after Josh popped the question and our wedding date was set we contacted Sheryl with every finger and toe crossed to see if she was available, as we know how quickly she gets snapped up!

It was so easy to get in contact with Sheryl throughout the whole planning process and she was always there to give advice. She was even kind enough to meet with me and walk around the venue to discuss where we could shoot on the day! She totally caters for us ‘over excited’ brides!

Sheryl’s advice and recommendations for other suppliers were invaluable and we trusted her completely! She definitely surrounds herself with likeminded and equally amazing people in the wedding industry. On the day of the wedding it felt like having a friend with us, she was so calming and made everyone laugh along the way. She knows exactly what she is doing and effortlessly captures every special moment! So many people told us how great she is as person, she just radiates fun and laughter.

The photos she captured were just incredible and we fall in love with them more and more every time we look through them. We just can’t believe how every detail of the day was shot and these memories will be with us forever. You go above and beyond Sheryl (re-adjusting my veil ten million times and brushing my hair ha!) and Josh and I cannot thank you enough! It’s so obvious how much you care about your couples and we love you so much for it!”

“Clare at LilyFee has been our absolute angel! Flowers were always the top of our agenda when it came to styling and were extremely important to us.

It was always my dream to have a wedding filled with beautiful blooms and Clare achieved it and more. Clare has a natural talent with her blooms and just knew exactly what we wanted even if I did continuously bombard her with Pinterest pictures and descriptions.

Clare cleverly linked up with my Pinterest board and was able to follow what I was pinning everyday. The result of Clare’s effort and work was breathtaking! Every element she created was so overwhelmingly beautiful I sobbed (happy tears).

Myself and all our guests all just felt like we were walking into a magical dream!

Clare made our wishes come true and on top of her talents she is the kindest person who could not do enough for us! We cannot thank you enough Clare!”

“Birtsmorton Court was a simple choice for us. We didn’t look around any other venues and we booked the same day as our viewing. It has everything you could possibly want in a wedding venue, incredibly beautiful grounds with something new around every corner, a gorgeous house with a moat (major princesses vibes!) and a beautiful marquee attached to the barn style bar and dance area.

One of the huge factors was the beautiful church that was right on site. Our Reverand could not have been more amazing and our wedding was so special because of the effort she takes to get to know us and welcome us into the church.

Dawn our wedding coordinator is the most amazing person we have ever met. She could not have been kinder and more organised, alongside Megan and Sophia made our wedding day so special because of their dedication and clear passion for wedding planning!

Birtsmorton is a unique place and has so many special touches for their couples which we could not have received anywhere else.”

Oxleaze Barn ~ Rach & Nate

“After trudging through the internet we finally came across Sheryl’s beautiful website with a stunning gallery and that sold it to us straight away! When we met for the engagement shoot, my husband and I were both very nervous and slightly awkward but Sheryl made us feel as ease very quickly. This was a good starting point leading up to the big day.

On our wedding day, Sheryl was brilliant, made us all feel at ease and had a few laughs at the same time. We are so pleased with our photos and will cherish them forever. Also you get a stunning USB stick to keep too! Thank you so much Sheryl, highly recommended!”

Rach & Nate and all of their family and friends braved Storm Hannah with such humour and fun. Nothing could spoil their day and they were a delight to be around.
It was my first visit to Oxleaze and I am already in love with this venue! Run by such lovely people and it is well look after and the grounds LOVINGLY tended to. A real gem.

Please enjoy their blog. What a photogenic couple!

June Wedding at Lyde Court~ Sarah & Charlie

“After booking our venue, Sheryl was our next target. She was recommended by one of my bridesmaids, and from that I knew I was going to like her. She did not disappoint at our first meeting, and we looked no further!

Sheryl was my first contact throughout planning for any vendors, and through her we booked our hair and make up artist, videographer and alterations. Due to her extensive knowledge of the wedding industry, I had absolute confidence that we had an awesome dream team lined up for the day.

On the day she provided so much laughter, raising the already happy spirits even further. We’re normally an awkward pair to photograph, but she made us feel like we were acing the whole thing, giving us real confidence. And all our ‘poses’ felt completely natural. I don’t know how she did it..! Sheryl was even on hand to get glasses of water – she truly cares for her couples.

We were shown preview photos on the day, and we were immediately in love and couldn’t wait to see what else she had in store. Her photographs somehow contain all the emotion of the moment, like mini capsules that we can relive over and over again (pretty sure she uses magic…). She gave us everything we could have asked for, a complete package of an amazing photographer and more! Thank you Sheryl.”

Cotswolds Wedding Venues – My Top 5!

Congratulations on your engagement! If you are looking for a Cotswolds wedding venue or Cotswolds wedding photographer, I can totally help you out. Searching for the perfect wedding venue can be tricky but I am going to take the stress away by giving you the rundown of my top five wedding venues in the Cotswolds!

A little bit about me…

I’m an ex-Londoner who fell in love with The Cotswolds followed by my Soul Mate and married him because I believe in love. I am a Mummy to a gorgeous 6-year-old boy and 3 furbabies.

Why wedding photography?

Weddings excite me! I arrive with my brides in the morning ready to have a blinding day! Being a bubbly person with a quick laugh and a natural ability to make people feel at ease, I am able to create effortless magical images. I love to watch how my couples interact with each other meaning that I can shoot their wedding accordingly. So that being said, no two weddings that I photograph will ever look the same. The longer I have been in this industry, the more I have come to realise that ‘like goes to like’. I am a tattooed wife of a rock guitarist and daughter of a rock drummer and extremely proud to be known as a passionate soul that takes life with both hands and shakes it hard with grit and determination!

How I became a wedding photographer in the Cotswolds…

I always had a passion for art from a young age and with that creative flow came to a career in Performing Arts. As I grew older my creativity naturally swayed over to imagery and now I find myself happier behind the lens than I ever was in front.  I have always marched to the beat of my own drum. It took me until I was 30 to find a career I was totally passionate about and how to harness my personality into my work to create dynamic, emotional and fun portraiture.

Why I am a good person to give you wedding venue advice…

As a wedding photographer, I have the unique position of visiting a wedding venue as a guest, a supplier and a work colleague. Wedding photographers are invited to be a large part of the wedding day by the Bride and Groom and whilst we are there to work, we are also looked after as a guest by the venue. Wedding photographers get to see all the behind-the-scenes organisation. We work closely with the wedding venue, their event co-coordinators and caterers, everyone has their role to play and communication is key.

The majority of wedding suppliers are involved in sections of either preparations or the actual day, such as cake makers, florists, makeup and hair artists etc. As photographers, we are with our couples for 8-10 hours of their special day, mingling with their guests and we see everything as a guest would. We also see all the ‘Back of House’ organisation and work closely with the venue, their co-coordinators and caterers. Everyone has their role to play and communication is key. The photographer wouldn’t want to hold up food service by the official group photos running late and we also work together if anything needs tweaking due to inclement weather.

Now for the Cotswold Wedding Venues!

There are loads of wedding venues in the Cotswolds including castles, hotels, stately homes, country manors and wedding barns, you can even get married at a vineyard! I am positive that you and your fiancé will fall in love with one of these Cotswold Wedding Venues, so without further ado, grab a cuppa or a glass of vino and browse my favourite Cotswold Wedding Venues below.

My top Cotswold Wedding Venues in no particular order:

Stone Barn

Matara

Oxleaze

Slaughters

Kingscote

Clicking the links in each section which will take you to weddings I have photographed at that wedding venue.

P.S. Don’t forget to enjoy your wedding planning!

Stone Barn Wedding Venue

Upper Windrush, Cheltenham wedding Venue

I have a real soft spot for Stone Barn, a historic wedding venue in the Cotswolds. This venue is part of the Cripps and Co. wedding venue group. Stone Barn has a sister wedding venue called Cripps Barn, also in the Cotswolds and rather beautiful! Stone Barn has a wooden shelter in the Stone Barn grounds, which provides an idyllic spot for outdoor ceremonies in the summer, with sweeping views over the glorious Cotswold countryside.

I am a BIG fan of anywhere with twinkly lights! From their gallery, the confetti runs under the twinkly tin roof of the barn! The lower part of the barn opens into a bright and airy conservatory style space which is a nice contrast. In the summer months, all of the doors are open so it feels like you are outside, nestled in the rolling Cotswold Hills.

I photographed a Cotswold wedding here where the Bride and Groom said:
“As soon as we came to this particular barn (and we had been to a lot) we knew instantly it was the venue for us. It was everything we ever could wish for. A rustic barn with a mixture of stone walls and corrugated iron, surrounded by green fields as far as the eye could see, which gave an amazing feeling of privacy and intimacy. Stone Barn depicts the picturesque Cotswolds and we fell in love.”

The Matara Centre Wedding Venue

Tetbury Wedding Venue

This is a completely unique venue set in twenty-eight acres of beautiful grounds. The Matara Centre offers a relaxed and serene environment for your special day. Asian inspired, this exclusive-use venue is licensed to host both indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies, which makes it weatherproof. Matara is intimate enough for twenty-five guests and grand enough to comfortably host up to two hundred guests. There is also accommodation for up to twenty-eight of your wedding guests.

One of my couple’s said this about the Matara wedding venue:
“Absolutely beautiful and every single member of staff is brilliant. Especially our wedding coordinator Olivia, nothing was too much for them.”
Alison & Leon

Whenever I have had any contact with Matara, whether it’s about a shoot, a wedding, or their ‘Best of Matara’ awards, every single person has been helpful, polite and gone out of their way to make sure everything runs smoothly for the Bride and Groom and myself. The food has been outstanding and all the guest say how well looked after they’ve been. The upkeep of their grounds is flawless and its an absolute MUST for any couple wanting a unique wedding experience. The Matara has a  cloistered courtyard, the Hilarium Dome and a tree planted and dedicated to every couple married there. What a lovely touch!

Oxleaze Barn Wedding Venue
Lechlade Wedding Venue

I shot my first wedding at Oxleaze this April and I think I fell in love, I cannot wait to go back there. Oxleaze farm comprises of The Barn and The Milling Barn. The beautifully restored barns are set on an organic family-run farm in the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds. Oxleaze Farm is nestled between quintessential English villages just one and a half hours from London. The wedding barns feature original stonework, exposed wooden beams and beautiful gardens. There is a three-bed cottage on-site for you or your guests to enjoy during your wedding day. The grounds at Oxleaze Farm provide great photo opportunities are covered in wildflowers and friendly livestock. They have a very cool 3D tour on their website so you can take a look around before you book your wedding viewing!

Kingscote Barn

Tetbury Wedding Venue

Kingscote Barn is a17th Century stone barn set in the beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds. The barn is surrounded by breathtaking scenery and lots of rural charm. It has an impressive main barn for your wedding celebrations, with a vaulted ceiling and a viewing gallery. The Kingscote Barn wedding team are incredibly helpful and run flawless wedding days with exceptional food and service. Kingscote Barn is a beautiful space where you can truly make it your own. The cornfields provide the perfect backdrop for those sunset couples portraits which I take during the ‘golden hour.’

I shot a Bride and groom’s wedding at this Cotswold Wedding Venue and this is what they thought:

“It was a tough choice because we have SO many gorgeous venues around the Cotswolds area. We were pretty certain we wanted to get married in a barn. We quickly ruled out having a ceremony elsewhere, as we wanted our guest to fully relax in one setting, and limit the chances of being caught in the British weather!  Having visited a few other styles of venues just to make sure, and for us, the barns felt more us. Both of us fell in love with Kingscote, the atmosphere, the decor and the staff were right up our street!”

The Slaughters Country Inn

Gloucestershire Wedding Venue

This Cotswolds wedding venue offers a relaxed ambience in a quintessentially British country inn. If you are searching for a traditional wedding venue in the Cotswolds, The Slaughters Country Inn could be the perfect fit. It is located in the heart of one of the prettiest villages in England and nestled on the banks of the River Eye. Its idyllic location means that there are loads of lovely photo spots including a little wooden bridge over the stream. If you are looking for something even grander you could try their sister wedding venue Slaughters Manor over the stream.

That concludes my reviews of this year’s favourite venues so far, I hope to return to all of these Cotswold Wedding Venues very soon. Feel free to contact me if you are looking for a Cotswolds wedding photographer.

Happy wedding planning!

Secret styled Barn shoot featured in The English Wedding Blog

Our secret styled shoot featured in The English Wedding Blog

Please excuse my tardiness in sharing this blog link. I had a little holiday and it is now fully flung wedding season. But I have got to it now and I assure you it is worth the wait!!

Hollie and I sat down in the winter and brain stormed a magical barn wedding shoot at Priors Tithe Barn, Glos. From that moment I knew we would work well together. I had lots of contacts that I was itching to work with and Hollie had the vision. We were soon joined by our model Kristi from Poppy’s Events, whom, a met a few years back when we both modelled in a Wedding Show. Once Charlotte Elizabeth Floristry joined our team we were flying! We all then met with Charlotte from Lauren Charlotte Bridal to find the perfect dress. Sarie Joynes provided the jewellery that complemented our look perfectly.

I called upon my buddy Amy Hickey for make up, as I flipping love working with her, she’s a hoot!! The full look was topped off by Alice from Ella Hair.

Cakes by KIT supplied an absolute beaut!

You can see the entire shoot being filmed by Gill at Rare Events media

So please, follow the link to the entire shoot HERE and leave some comments if you like it!!

I have attached some of the images of the team at work behind the scenes!!

A very big THANK YOU to my buddy Natasha Ewins who stepped in to help me out with second shooting of the details, you will even find a picture of yours truly down at the bottom!

Oobaloos Wedding Photography Featured In The English Wedding Blog

Now you may remember I wrote a blog a few months back called

‘Your photographer is for life, not just your wedding’

featuring Lucinda, Alex and little Flo.

I have recorded the milestones for this lovely little family for a while now, and I think it is safe to say that the feeling is mutual for wanting to continue this for many years to come. When I wrote that blog I was very excited to be shooting their upcoming wedding at Ellenborough Park, Cheltenham.  Did we think that one of the biggest blogs in the country would pick it for publication? Nope! Well….here it is! In awe again of all the work that went on behind the scenes of this wedding to make it Picture Perfect.

Read the feature here on The English Wedding Blog!

Special mention has to go to my lovely friend Amy Hickey who really does make every bride look and feel like a princess in their bridal make up. Teamed with Cat at Yoshi Hair, they made the bridal preparation experience complete….along with some prosecco!!

Oobaloos Wedding Photography Meets Longlevens Flowers

The first time you smell honeysuckle on the cusp of summer or catch the scent of a fireplace as autumn transitions into winter, it whisks you down memory lane, transporting you to another time and place. Similarly, when you reach for that special ‘date night’ perfume, it takes you right back to the first day you wore it. Scent and memory are inextricably linked and flowers have their own powerful way to remind you of a certain time in your life. After the sweet, fleeting moments of your wedding day have passed you by, your signature flowers are one of the few keepsakes you can use to travel back in time, time and time again.stuart-369

I met with Amanda Cook of Longlevens Flowers and we discussed exactly this! Amanda informed me that because the flowers often have to travel hundreds of miles to reach the shops, their toughness has also been valued more than their fragrance. As a result, the scent of roses has suffered, and become something of an afterthought.

Wild roses could not survive without this scent, as it attracts bees to pollinate its flower. But over the years, roses, particularly those for the cut flower market, have mostly been bred for their appearance – and many have lost their scent.

So how can we incorporate a scent into your bouquet that will instantly transport you back to your wedding day? Herbs are fantastic; rosemary brings in a beautifully woody scent, also populus eucalyptus and succulents.

Amanda had just made up this gorgeous bouquet when I arrived for her bride. She said the fashion at the moment is for HUGE bouquets. The type that look as though the bride has wandered through a meadow on her way to the church and pulled a ribbon from her hair to tie them. They aren’t symmetrical, they aren’t particularly arranged, they are wild, bohemian and gorgeous.longlevens flowers-4

Featured here is the Sweet avalanche rose with beautiful soft pink petals with a subtle hint of green on the outer petals, it’s a very popular flower to use in wedding designs. And it’s available all year round. We also have asparagus fern, olive and berry and the ever popular pale pastels and greens with lime green vibernum.longlevens flowers-10

As I chatted with Amanda about her work, her face lit up. I can see when a lady is passionate about her work as she mirrors me. The energy and enthusiasm in the room was contagious.longlevens flowers-6

Amanda prides herself on sourcing the very best flowers from Dutch auctions where they are picked and delivered to her within 48 hours preserving freshness and quality.  She covers all floral arrangements from traditional bouquets and baskets to exotic hand ties.

She and her assistant Abi will create bespoke arrangements covering all budgets.

All orders are carefully created, lovingly wrapped and look stunning before being delivered to Cheltenham, Gloucester, The Cotwolds and surrounding areas.

I asked Amanda if weddings are the only time she sees her brides. Apparently not! Grooms return for Valentines Day and Anniversaries to have a bouquet made up with ‘their’ flowers and always remark how the scent makes their beautiful wife go a bit wistful and gooey. So, husbands? Want to earn major brownie points? Talk to Amanda about recreating your wife’s bouquet.
