I was first introduced to the future Mrs Richards via a mutual friend as we all have kiddies the same age. I already knew Sarah as a scatty, lovely, bubbly lady so I was delighted to be asked to meet with her and Marc to discuss their wedding photography. Having clicked with them both, I came away knowing we were going to have a fantastic day together!!
A few months later we all visited their venue, The Manor House Hotel in Moreton-In-Marsh to do their engagement shoot and to speak with their wedding planner at the hotel.
Its just so happened that they had a wedding fayre that day so I saw it all set up.It was gorgeous, everything you could expect from a Cotswolds hotel…roaring fireplaces, log beams, pretty cakes etc etc. You get the picture!
We had lovely autumnal sunshine for their engagement shoot and it was a wonderful way to really get to know Sarah and Marc as a couple, see how they interact and what made them feel comfortable in front of my lens. We had a fabulous time.
When wedding day rolled round 3 days after Christmas, I was delighted to be out working. I knew several of the guests at the wedding and was looking forward to shooting all day. The weather gods smiled on us and we had some beautiful crisp, cold sunshine. Perfect!! I was pleased to be working alongside the delightful Amy Hickey waving her make-up artistry magic wand on the bride and mother of the bride! Having worked several weddings and styles shoots with Amy, we enjoy an easy banter!
I love feeling part of the girly gang at the bridal prep stage….the nerves, excitement, make up and shoes flying everywhere. I am part spectator and contributor and enjoy every second.
So…..to the big moment! Sarah, the blushing bride walked down the aisle in a stunning lace and beaded Maggie Sottero dress to an emotional groom. Jack, their nearly 3 year old wanted to be a part of their ceremony, and surrounded by friends and family, he looked just perfect there, also bringing the rings up to his mum and dad at the right time. What a little gentleman!
After the newly married couple walked back down the aisle they enjoyed some champagne and welcomed their guests until I whisked them away for their couples photos, allowing them some time to talk to each other whilst I got set up. If I can give any advice to the bride and groom on their big day, it is to take some time to talk to each other. You get so swept away with welcoming guests, that its very easy to not speak to each other for most of the day. I know all of my couples have welcomed this break with me for 30 odd minutes to relax and chat and grab a whole glass of bubbly.
Once Sarah and Marc were happy that they had had some time out we invited all family and friend out to join in the photo fun. We worked swiftly and smoothly as it was on the nippy side!!
The wedding breakfast was filled with laughter, wine, speeches, power point displays and emotional tears…. the perfect celebration!
I have to say, that the atmosphere at Sarah and Marc Richards wedding day was powerful. The toast made to absent friends was poignant and there was a closeness and love in the air that captivated everybody.
I wish you guys all the luck and love in the world!! and thank you for letting me be a part of your special day. I hop[e you enjoy ‘your story’.
