Vicki and Roger’s Festive Wedding at Eynsham Hall

As I am sat here at my desk, it is drizzling outside my office window, I’m wrapped up in a favourite cardi and fluffy socks and yesterday was ‘Blue Monday’. So I though I would blog something festive and sparkly for you! Vicki and Roger got married 3 weeks ago on 27th December. I am glad I knew that all the family stayed at the stunning Eynsham Hall the previous evening as the holiday traffic that morning was awful! I still made it in good time and arrived to a crisp, bright, beautiful Witney, Oxfordshire, just an hours drive down the A40 from me.

The atmosphere was calm with Vicki and her bridemaids and mum and fun when the flower girls were popping in and out.

Proud, and emotional father Pete walked his radiant daughter down Eynsham Hall’s grand staircase and up the aisle to meet a nervous looking Roger. But once Vicki was at his side, you could visibly see his shoulder relax and he started to breathe again! Once Vicki had a fit of giggles, the emotional atmosphere calmed (apart from father, Pete!)

As with all winter weddings, one of my main jobs is chasing the light! Since the weather was dry and bright, the new Mr and Mrs Turner wanted their group images all outside in the grounds of Eynsham Hall. We nipped through the groups swiftly and took a walk, just us, for their couples portraits.

Vicki had employed the help of Gloucestershire business Sweet Beginnings to style the hall for the wedding breakfast with tall chandelier centrepieces and personalised candy cones for the kiddies. The overall effect worked wonderfully in this grand ballroom.

Between courses, Jon Allen from Incorporate Entertainment provided magical entertainment in the form of close up table magic. He certainly wowed the guests!!

After an emotional set of speeches, Vicki and Roger cut their wedding cake, blew me a kiss and I left them to enjoy their evening!

Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your special day and I wish you all the very best for the future!

Your Photographer is for Life, Not just Your Wedding….

This morning was the usual kind of morning in the Ooba-Fish household,  work chaos, cereal wars, toddler tantrums over which foot to put each welly on and whether he really needed to take two duckies and a giraffe to the child minder. Once everyone had left,  I sat down for breakfast, in total silence. As I munched my (Slimming World Syn Free just in case my group leader is reading this) Full English, I pondered on the next few weddings coming up. One in particular being Alex and Lucinda in March.

Now I met Lucinda and Alex after Lucinda had asked for recommendations for wedding photographers on a networking facebook group, Local Business Network, of which we are both members. I was overwhelmed by the amount of recommendations I received and we duly spoke on the phone, got on like a house on fire and arranged to meet to discuss their wedding. I knew Lucinda was very heavily pregnant, so I popped my camera in my bag. After we had done all the serious stuff, I asked if they wanted an informal bump picture.lucinda07

Later, I found out that Nicky from The Chamomile Rooms had gifted them a newborn shoot with myself. How is that for a lucky coincidence?! When I originally spoke to Nicky about this extremely generous gift for her Reflexology and Nurture 4 Life clients she said,

“We like to give our lovely mums-to-be and new mums a real treat to celebrate the arrival of their little bundle of joy and there is no better way of doing this than a special family photo shoot with the amazing Oobaloos Photography.”

I was very happy that one of these vouchers she had purchased from me was for little Flo!

When Flo was ready for her shoot a month or so later, I knew that Lucinda had researched my style, knew how I loved moody and emotive photography and let me just run with it. That was music to my ears. The picture that was our joint favourite went on to be one of my most popular images ever, being featured in ‘Inspire Photography Magazine‘ in their Top 10 for Black and White Photography, Fine Art photography guru Amber Privizzini’s blog, and several community pages, winning top spot. I have to say that this image was a turning point for me and my work, I knew what I wanted to do, but didn’t know if clients would like it. Now I had my own justification.

Just last week, I met up with Lucinda and Alex again for their engagement shoot at their wedding venue, Ellenborough Park, and I was delighted that they bought Flo! It was her 6 month birthday and it was magical to include her in this shoot.

Watch this space….for the next chapter in Lucinda and Alex’s life that I am super excited to be a part of with my trusty camera.

So what is my point? Well I will get to it in my usual long winded way! In the past few years I have seen clients through from Bump, to Newborn, then First Birthday shoots. This week I was HONOURED to have been let in the secret of one of my wedding couples happy pregnancy news….no I’m not telling YOU who yet!!

Two days ago, another lovely lady messaged me with happy newsand an excitement for me to capture it for her.

My point…..when you meet with your wedding photographer, consider this….do I like them enough to let them share my life. To chronicle every milestone and happy moment, knowing they are just as excited to be there. I cannot wait for all my wedding couples to contact me again, whether its for babies, family events, or just to celebrate an anniversary with a shoot.

I know that Lucinda and Alex’s wedding will not be the last time I ever see them, and that makes my heart very happy.

Ooba~Love to you from me,

Sheryl
